Ashley Hebert :: finding her true love

Ashley Hebert is one week closer to finding her true love! Or at the very least, she'll find the man who outlasts the rest on The Bachelorette.
In tonight's episode, Ashley got to actually date the suitors, so it was time for group dates and one-on-ones. Host Chris Harrison warned the men that if they didn't get a rose during their one-on-one dates with Ashley, they would immediately be sent home. As for the group date, only one man would be getting a rose at the end of the night.
Oh, and there was a dance battle among the guys. Can't make this stuff up…

The first lucky one-on-one date was awarded to William, and that date included a private jet to Las Vegas. And since Ashley's endgame is to get married, it's only understandable that the two go on a little wedding adventure. Nothing says "first date" like wedding errands: cake tasting, ring shopping and eventually heading to the chapel. Ashley then cranked up the heat on the relationship pressure cooker by practicing a walk down the aisle. William, albeit looking a little nervous, admitted that this was the best first date he had ever been on. During dinner, he shared his dreams of becoming a stand-up comic and talked about the death of his dad. Afterward, Ashley awarded William with a rose, and the making-out commenced in the middle of the Bellagio fountain.
Then it was time for the group date! Chris, Ben F., Ryan M., Nick, Constantine, Bentley, Blake, Matt, Lucas, Ames, Stephen, and West all get an invite to Vegas, where Ashley is waiting with America's Best Dance Crew alum Jabbawockeez. If you thought the guys were going to simply watch a dance battle to help fuel their competitive fire…you'd be kind of right. Instead, the boys have to separate into two teams and come up with a dance routine for Ashley. The winning team stays and performs later that night for a crowd of 2,000, and the losing team heads back to Los Angeles. Ready? Dance off!
The two teams are named The Best Men and No Rhythm Nation. Because we can't possibly put into words what a bunch of grown men who are not proffessional dancers performing a dance-off look like, we'll just inform you that No Rhythm Nation wins. At the after party, Ashley has mini-individual dates with everyone, and because Bentley has mad game ("She's got a nice butt"), he gets the rose at the end of the night.

Morita Haruyo's Vibrant, Modern Ukiyo-E

I discovered someone rather intensely amazing during my nightly Pinterest trolling. Her name is Morita Haruyo and she's a Japanese artist who does Ukiyo-e-looking ladies in a more modern way. Her paintings are exploding off the screen with vibrant color! I think it almost crashed my browser. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time finding good, large images or her work... her website is a bit hard to navigate. Oh, how I want to know more and see more of her work! >_<

Vanessa Minnillo ::Celebrated Her celebrated their upcoming nuptials

Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo celebrated their upcoming nuptials Sunday with a sunset wedding shower at the London Hotel in West Hollywood.
The couple arrived at 7 p.m. for the rooftop cocktail celebration. As one eyewitness told PEOPLE: "Nick and Vanessa greeted guests hand-in-hand. Vanessa looked gorgeous in a white dress with a black sash. She and Nick both seemed very excited to celebrate with their families and friends."
While taking in the panoramic views of Los Angeles skyline and the Hollywood Hills, guests enjoyed sophisticated dishes prepared in chef Gordon Ramsay's hotel kitchen.
A deejay entertained with a wide array of music. "Everyone seemed to have a great time. It was a laidback, yet sophisticated atmosphere. Guests danced until the late hours," a source.
The couple are registered at Williams-Sonoma and Geary's, and shower gifts included Juliska Berry & Thread whitewash dinnerware, Waterford champagne flutes and a Feinberg English Silver wine funnel.

Jessica Chastain ::Worried

Jessica Chastain is worried that she might be the first unknown actress everyone will get sick of.
The 30-year-old redhead plays Brad Pitt's wife in filmmaker Terrence Malick's "Tree of Life" which was awarded the top prize at the Cannes film festival last week.
The movie, a meditation on life set against the background of a Midwestern family in the 1950s that also stars Sean Penn, arrives in select U.S. movie theaters on Friday.
But that's not the only film the newcomer has on her resume, nor the only A-list actors and directors who want to work with her.
Later this summer Chastain stars in the drama "The Help," based on Kathryn Stockett's best-selling novel; "The Debt," an espionage drama starring Oscar-winner Helen Mirren; and the crime drama "The Fields" opposite Sam Worthington.
Two more of her films are scheduled to come out this fall -- one opposite Al Pacino -- and still others in 2012.
"I've made 11 films, nine are (waiting for release), Chastain told Reuters in an interview. "I'm a little worried that people will get sick of me. But because the characters are so different in each film, hopefully they won't."
Blame it on Malick, the semi-reclusive but revered filmmaker who gave Chastain her big break in "Tree of Life." Though the director's films -- including "Badlands" and "The Thin Red Line" -- are hardly commercial hits, the critical acclaim they engender makes Hollywood sit up and take notice.
"Tree of Life" was shot three years ago but Chastain said her association with the film instantly "changed my world" and "opened doors for me to work with other directors."
ROBIN WILLIAMS, AL PACINO LEND A HAND
It's not the first break to come her way. A native of northern California, Chastain attended the prestigious Juilliard school in New York on a scholarship from Juilliard alumni, actor and comedian Robin Williams.
"That was huge. It paid for my apartment, my books, my tuition. It paid for me to fly back and forth to see my family," said Chastain.
Yet the actress has never met Williams.
"I know at some point I'm going to meet him and it will be really special," she said. "Because I'm the first person in my family to go to college and I feel he made that possible."
As did her grandmother, who took Chastain to see a play when she was a girl, thus inspiring the youngster to pursue acting as a career. Her grandmother also helped Chastain move to New York for college.
"I was scared to live in New York and live in a dorm and she flew with me," said Chastain.
While in her last year at Juilliard, Chastain's class went to Los Angeles to showcase their talents to the entertainment industry. From there, Chastain landed a television deal with Emmy Award-winning producer John Wells' company.
"It was a blessing because I got to live in New York and do theater and the company would fly me out to L.A. to do television," said Chastain.
The transition to film occurred when Chastain was cast in the title role of a Los Angeles theater production of Oscar Wilde's "Salome," directed by and starring Al Pacino, in 2006.
Pacino decided to also direct a film version of the play -- part documentary/part fiction -- called "Wilde Salome" with the same players. The film is now scheduled to premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September.
"I learned how an actor changes a performance from (being in) a theater of 1400 people to a single camera. Al was like my acting teacher during that whole process," Chastain said.
Things came to a head for Chastain at the Cannes film festival earlier this month where "Tree of Life" not only walked away with the Palme d'Or, but her psychological thriller "Take Shelter," with Michael Shannon, won the grand prize in the Critics Week competition.
Things got even more intense at the festival when the Prohibition-era drama "The Wettest Country in the World" -- which she shot with Shia LeBoeuf -- found itself in the middle of a bidding war with distributors. It was picked up by the Weinstein company for a release in 2012.
"I will never experience anything like that again," said Chastain of her first Cannes experience. "I'm still recovering. It was a week of living on pure adrenaline, no sleep and a lot of excitement."

Richard White / Rico / Twelvty

I found this amazing artist on the Juxtapoz Reader Art section. As you can see from my obvious confusion in the title of this post, I'm not sure if his name is Richard White, Rico, or Twelvty. In any case, I love the wildness and color of his paintings and the sketchy expressiveness of his drawings. I'd surely love to own one of his pieces. What think you?

Collin van der Sluijs's Amazing Colorful Works

Hi-Fructose's little FB post almost made me scream today. It helped me discover Dutch artist Collin van der Sluijs.

His crazy sketchiness/wild spatter/paint insanity is just the thing I love! Booooo that he doesn't have a page I can "like" on FB, but I shall use the handy dandy Firefox bookmark. I would LOVE to have a print of his work. Time to go decide which one I want. Heee! On a sad note, I've been having this dratted cough that doesn't seem to be a cold. Perhaps I now have allergies at the late age of 27. :'(

Lu Cong's Mysterious Girls

I just adore Lu Cong's ethereal, mysterious, slightly sad girls! The luminescent colors seem to match his beautiful subjects, and although his medium is oil, I feel like they are very light on the paint, almost like sketches with a bit of color added. Of course I love that since I love DRAWING! What do you think of him?
